Mishel Reyes Castillo
Hydraulic Engineer | Water & Sustainable Development Specialist | EngD candidate
I am a civil engineer specialized in hydraulic and hydrological modelling, with a strong academic foundation and international professional experience. I hold two Master’s degrees: one in Water and Sustainable Development with a focus on Hazards, Water Risk, and Climate from IHE Delft (The Netherlands), and another in Hydraulic Engineering from the National University of Engineering (Peru). Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate in Engineering (EngD) at the University of Twente.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in multidisciplinary projects related to river and coastal engineering, sediment transport, flood risk, and climate adaptation. My work spans from technical modelling using advanced tools like Delft3D, OpenTelemac, FLO2D, IBER and HEC-RAS to participating in strategy development for long-term coastal and river management.
I bring a solutions-oriented mindset, combining technical expertise with a broad systems perspective to design resilient infrastructure and sustainable water management strategies. I also contribute to academic and professional communities through training, teaching, and international presentations. My ambition is to continue contributing to global challenges in water systems, bridging engineering practice and research.
